1303L, 1303S OR 1303LS?

A VW1300 is a standard Beetle with torsion bar front suspension. This number has nothing to do with the engine, since you couldn't get a 1300cc engine in a VW 1300.
A 1302 is a 71 or 72 flat window Super Beetle. A 1303 is a 73 and later Super Beetle.
If a "VW1303" badge, then the car came with a 1300cc dual port engine.
If it had a "VW1303L" badge, it was the base model, but with an uprated interior. (Luxury?)

If it had a "VW1303S" badge, then the car got the larger 1600cc engine, with factory disc brakes. Then you could also get a "VW1303LS". It should be obvious what that had. VW1302L, VW1302S, VW1302LS badges also exist.
